Greg Gutfeld Believes a Media Reckoning Is Awaiting | Barrett Media (2024)

Does the media understand what it has just helped to unleash? Fox News host Greg Gutfeld began his Friday evening program by discussing the implications of the most recent arrest of the presidential front-runner, Donald Trump. Gutfeld expressed the sense that neither radical Democrats nor their complicit media understand exactly what kind of powder keg they just ignited.

“After so much Hunter (Biden) coverage, it’s nice to see a newsmaker photographed in pants,” Gutfeld began. “The media can laugh, but you get the sense that, once again, they went too far.”

Gutfeld showed Trump’s first post in more than two years on the X, formerly Twitter platform, displaying his mug shot and proclaiming, “ELECTION INTERFERENCE. NEVER SURRENDER. DONALDJTRUMP.COM”. Gutfeld joked about the Trump campaign wasting no time to start selling mug shot shirts, mugs, and koozies.

“And unlike (Brian) Kilmeade’s last book, they’re selling like hot cakes,” Greg Gutfeld quipped. “But what’s the media care about, besides gloating over Trump getting fingerprinted? His self-reported height and weight, at 6’3, 215 pounds. Full disclosure though, at least ten pounds of that was hair spray. But that means he lost more than 25 pounds since his last presidential physical in 2020. And for the mainstream media, that’s where the investigative journalism begins and ends.”

The program then included clips of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, and Nicolle Wallace ridiculing Trump over his self-reported weight.

“They arrest the President for the first time in history, and instead of wondering what that’s going to do to this country, or the voters, or the world, they riff on everyone’s weight. Who do they think they are? Me?” Gutfeld asked. “You look at the media and the way they respond, and of course they’re gleeful. But it seems to me that they must not know Trump. He always gets the last laugh. I think something big is coming.”

“The photo, it’s kind of bringing everyone together,” said comedian David Angelo. “Because liberals love it. And Trump people love it. It’s like the Rorschach test, so they’re all on board.”

“You know what’s amazing about this,” Greg Gutfeld asked. “This guy’s been around for 70-some-odd years. He was never arrested in his entire life. He becomes President…four times. Mere coincidence? Or do you think they might be out to get him?”

“I got a theory, that they’re going to go out to get him for the first time in 240 years. Fourth time arrested in five months,” radio host Clay Travis answered. “And on the weight front, how quickly would all of those people at MSNBC…if you make a joke about Stacey Abrams being fat? And by the way, Stacey Abrams is really, really fat. Way fatter for a woman, by the way, than Donald Trump is for a man. And she has that photo where she’s the only one not wearing a mask and all those school kids are sitting around. And the data reflects that if you are fat, Covid was more dangerous to you. And if you are five and six years old, you basically don’t even know if you get Covid.

“If you say that Stacey Abrams’ fat ass should be the one wearing the mask, because she is an obese adult, MSNBC loses their minds because it’s fat-shaming. They do. But Donald Trump says he weighs 215 pounds and they lead their broadcast with it. So is it fat shaming? Not the same for Trump as it would be for Stacey Abrams?”

Gutfeld tried to bring the conversation back to the historical and unprecedented nature of the slew of arrests to begin with.

“I see how they could have wound up talking about that,” Fox News Contributor Kat Timpf opined, regarding Trump’s reported weight. “Because I saw that Breaking News banner below, and they’re probably running out of stuff to break after a certain point. They’re just doing probably wall-to-wall live coverage on this, and really the only news – we all knew this was going to happen – the only news is that’s what his mug shot looks like. And then all of the booking information.

“So you can only repeat yourself over and over again before you’re desperately, desperately looking for something to add. So I can get that they were excited to be like, oh the weight thing. We got an extra three minutes out of that! That’s probably what it is more than anything.”

For his part, Greg Gutfeld thinks the media will rue the day they partnered with Democrats to thwart the will of American voters.

“I gotta say, I think the mug shot is amazing. I don’t care if he prepared for it. I also think a reckoning is coming,” Greg Gutfeld predicted. “You don’t do this to half of America and expect that it’s gonna go away. I don’t know if I would feel good about this if it was Hillary or if it was Joe Biden. But from now on I f—ing am.I don’t like revenge, but now I love it.”
