🌍🚆 On the third day of our Vienna excursion, we had the honor of visiting ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG for the second time. We were grateful to receive an insightful presentation from Julian Kundegraber. We learnt about the projects undertaken by and the methods the company employs to collect data necessary for policy making in the Ministry of Transport. We also delved into a freight/truck traffic survey employed by the company and discussed how certain decisions affect mobility routes for trucks within Europe.In the afternoon, we headed towards aspern Seestadt, one of Europe's largest urban development projects. We were honored to receive an enlightening presentation from Marvin Mitterwallner about ongoing projects in the smart city. Marvin then gave us a tour, discussing how innovative concepts and forward-looking ideas ensure a high quality of life for everyone in this city-within-a-city.To wrap up the company visits, we made our way to aspern.mobil LAB, located within Seestadt. We learned about the lab's different projects and how it aims to establish and support a new culture of mobility and innovation in this extraordinary development area. We were presented with interesting data collected by the lab and were happy to discuss the revelations regarding aspern Seestadt and their implications for Vienna as a whole. MBA Sustainable Mobility Management is in Vienna! On Wednesday we kicked off the excursion with a visit to the Open Innovation Factory at ÖBB for a workshop on inclusive mobility. In the afternoon we visited Technische Universität Wien to learn about Vienna's experience with Superblocks and also an interesting look at traffic simulation. Thank you to Point End Consulting and the Institute of Transport Sciences for a day full of new learning 🤓🤩.

What a journey! We are so happy to be in #Vienna with the students of the MBA Sustainable Mobility - TU Berlin Happy despite 15 hours delay, a forced stopover in #Nürnberg for the night (will we be reimbursed? Difficult to say!) and a small odyssey made of unpredictable, convoluted and - most of the time - unreliable information by German railway operator, Deutsche BahnThanks to Deutsche Bahn for this formidable lesson, “How to make a mess and offering a bad experience of the most sustainable transport system.” - Thanks for the lack of support during the trip. - Thanks for the contradictory information available (changing radically according to the different platforms run by the same DB)- Thanks for the lack of customer care- Thanks for the sometimes rude sometimes kind and helpful staffThanks for all of this!Addenda: We are sorry about South Germany´s floods last weeks, and we understand the impact on the train schedule, but even more a reason to provide a minimal customer care!

And today it was show-time for the students MBA Sustainable Mobility - TU Berlin!They presented their ideas for creating more awareness for bi-directional Ev batteries, in cooperation with Research Campus Mobility2Grid!The seven groups presented very different, but all in all double, concepts!We varied from re-purposing an old bi-directional charging station for bus into 1.an item of a park, 2.making it into a children’s attraction, 3.an ice-cream track, 4.a Tamagotchi-style exhibition5.an AI based installation for visitor at the @eruef Campus6.Pack-man style edutainment installation/game 7.A proper revamped, pedal-powered chargerCongratulations!(By the way, are you interested in becoming a MBA Sustainable Mobility - TU Berlin´s student? 🌟 Exploring the Future at Werner-von-Siemens Centre! 🌟Our recent visit to the Werner-von-Siemens Centre was an incredible experience for our students, diving deep into themes of Technology Ethics & 5G Autonomous Logistics.🚀 5G Autonomous LogisticsLed by Leon Lippold, we received an enlightening presentation on the characteristics and capabilities of 5G, including its differences from the 4G network. It was fascinating to see how the Werner-von-Siemens Centre utilizes this technology for their autonomous robots. This presentation was crucial in understanding Werner-von-Siemens as a company, and how they operate to achieve their goal of enabling transformative research, actively shaping change in industry and society through social and technological innovation. The highlight was definitely touring the Lab and getting a close-up view of the robots. The students even enjoyed steering a remote-controlled car through an obstacle course designed just for them!💡 Design Thinking MethodNadine Strehlke and Kolja Pietsch introduced us to the method of design thinking. They were incredibly engaged, guiding us gently through the process, encouraging creativity, and always drawing parallels to the methods carried out at the company. The highlight during the design thinking session was the opportunity for students to bring their solutions to life using the 'LEGO' pieces provided by Werner-von-Siemens Centre. This hands-on experience was crucial as they presented their innovative solutions. We explored various futuristic scenarios, challenging the students to design solutions to the technological challenges autonomous robots may bring in the future. It was enlightening to see the students come up with innovative solutions while considering ethical aspects.A huge thank you to all the experts and Werner-von-Siemens Centre for Industry and Science e.V. for their hospitality.
