Pilar currently works in Accounting Research at Norton Healthcare and recently returned from her international study experience in India and the United Arab Emirates with the University of Louisville College of Business Graduate Programs!Below are Pilar's tips on making the most of your graduate business degree experience and how the MSAA has further driven her passions and interests!"As a current student in the University of Louisville's accounting program, I'm excited to share some insights with incoming students based on my own experiences so far: ⭐ Building a strong network is crucial for success in grad school, and it goes beyond just attending events. ⭐ Make a genuine effort to connect with professors during office hours or after class discussions.Professors here are fantastic! UofL's graduate faculty are deeply invested in their students' success.⭐ The program itself is impressive. It delves deeper than theoretical principles, equipping students with practical skills directly applicable to the real world. Whether it's advanced financial analysis techniques or mastering accounting software, the curriculum prepares you to hit the ground running after graduation.My passion for accounting lies in the challenge of the puzzle. I find immense satisfaction in analyzing financial data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions that create efficiencies. The UofL program perfectly compliments this passion. It sets high standards, pushing you to constantly learn and grow. But it also fosters a supportive environment, helping you overcome challenges and celebrate achievements. It’s more than just a job—it’s a calling that resonates deeply with me. Being part of a values-based organization headquartered right here in Louisville is a privilege. We invest in people and communities, and I have the opportunity to shape those investments. Educating our government partners about best practices and policy decisions that impact both Humana and the individuals we serve drives my passion.The Professional MBA (PMBA) has been a game-changer for me. It’s like having a powerful toolkit that equips me with insights into various business practices. From strategy to finance and organizational behavior, the PMBA has broadened my understanding. Having earned a Bachelor's degree in business from the University of Louisville while playing as a forward for the women’s basketball teamat UofL, Liz realized the need for a flexible graduate program to accommodate her demanding schedule as she transition to the WNBA. In the Online MBA program, Liz has found support and flexibility from faculty and peers, overcoming challenges like time zone differences. Her experiences, from collaborative projects to navigating online learning, have shaped her educational journey. Recognizing the rigor of online studies, Liz emphasizes the dedication required for success.While pursuing her UofL MBA, Liz continues her basketball career, aiming to graduate in 2025 and combine her business acumen with healthcare expertise.
